| Passports are now required for all air travel between USA and Canada.
If you plan to visit Canada , you must:
* Have a valid travel document, such as a passport;
* Be in good health;
* Have enough money for your stay. The amount of money you will need can vary
with the circumstances of the visit, how long you will stay and whether you will stay in
a hotel or with friends or relatives. For more information, ask the Canadian visa office
in your country or region.
* Convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit.
Passport processing could take up to as much as 6 weeks so be prepared.
Adult passports are valid for 10 years, youth passports are valid for 5 years.
The U.S. State Department will be offering credit card sized Passport Cards to those in border communities.
Land crossings will require proof of citizenship and a photo ID.
Drivers licences, social security cards and voters registration card are NOT considered
proof of citizenship, but the drivers licence is a valid form of photo ID.
Canadian Border patrol can turn away an American citizen if he/she has a
drunk driving conviction, NO MATTER HOW MINOR.
It is possible to obtain a waiver that will allow you into Canada from a Canadian Consulate.
